Hey everybody,

Black Lives Matter Grand Junction is endorsing Citizens for School District 51, the campaign advocating to pass the Bond and Mill Levy on November’s ballot. Ballots will arrive the week of October 16th and the measures will appear as 3A and 3B.

These measures are the most important ballot initiatives we can work on this year. Our schools are in dire need. The District has been working with a budget that has been cut $200 million since the recession. Because of that, our kids are going to school 165 days a year, 15 less than the national average, meaning by the time they graduate they will have a full year less of education than their peers. They learn from textbooks will Bill Clinton as president. They don’t have enough laptops to teach kids how to use computers. They attend schools like Orchard Mesa Middle School that have dysfunctional HVACs, roofs that are about to fall down, and plumbing infrastructure that causes the school to smell like a sewer. To see where the entirety of the measures and where every dollar will be spent, head over to their website at www.citizensforsd51.com/plan.

We all know how tough this is going to be, but we have a serious chance this year. We only need 20,000 votes to win. If everyone on this email votes YES on 3A and 3B we’re already 1/20 of the way there. To get those other 19,000 we need everyone here to get out and hit the doors. This election will be won by each and every one of us knocking, calling, and talking to our friends. To sign up to volunteer, head to their volunteer opportunities page and sign up to knock, call, and publicly endorse their campaign.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a time to phonebank or knock, reach out to their campaign manager, Nathan Steele at (607) 227-5453 or nsteeleud@gmail.com
